Position Summary

The University of Indianapolis invites applications for the position of Executive Director of Facilities. This is a full-time exempt staff position.

The Executive Director of Facilities will provide leadership, supervision and management of all facilities operations and personnel (property, buildings, grounds, custodial services, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental health & safety, etc.) on a residential campus of higher education. This position will be responsible for fiscal management of the department’s capital and operating budgets ensuring that our facilities are operated and maintained in a cost-effective and safe manner. He/she should have knowledge of purchasing, personnel, accounting, and budget processes as well as the ability to apply budgeting and fiscal planning techniques with financial constraints. Additionally, the executive director will possess the ability to communicate effectively with campus and outside constituents and respond to emergency situations in a calm and timely manner.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive responsibility and experience in general construction, management, and/or facilities oversight at the management level. Knowledge of building/construction regulations, strong problem solving skills, and experience in supervision and management. Detailed knowledge of all areas of facilities operations. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise sound judgment. Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential within a higher education setting. Must be open and approachable by all levels of the organization from housekeepers to senior administrators.
